Swedish Pancake Breakfast, A Sweet Tradition

I look forward to the first Sunday of the month. The Swedish Cultural Center host their monthly Swedish pancake breakfast (with exception to July due to 4th of July and Labor day pushes Septembers Swedish breakfast to the second Sunday of the month.)  This has been a tradition for my boyfriend and I since we started attending early Spring of this year. With the purchase of entry, you are given two tickets. With your first ticket, you get a plate full of three Swedish pancakes, topped with either lingonberries or strawberries, that is then topped with whipped cream. Your second ticket provides for another two pancakes with the same topping offerings.

The crowd is wonderful, a diverse mix of young and the older generation; singles, couples, and families. There is a feeling of togetherness, to sit down to a homemade meal, to enjoy one another’s company. Live music accompanies this event; traditional Swedish tunes with brass and string instruments. The room is filled with tables, covered with checkered patterns in shades of blue, yellow, and red.  The atmosphere, along with the delicious food of this event makes the $9 per adult well worth it. The hours run from 8am – 1:30pm.  For more information, visit the center’s official website, http://www.swedishculturalcenter.org/Events/pancake.htm

A huge thanks to the Swedish Cultural Center for keeping this event alive. A shout out to the volunteers who dedicate their time.
