This is a subject close to my heart, the preservation of a landmark. A gem, located in Volunteer Park; The conservatory provides visitors to the park first hand a view of a working greenhouse. It allows for visitors to enjoy the beauty and also learn about various blooms. The Conservatory was established in 1912, although it’s had it’s ups and downs through the years, this landmark is in beautiful condition and one of my favorite places to visit in Seattle.
The Conservatory is need of public support to keep it in it’s current condition. At the front door there is a box with a suggested donation. Through their website, http://www.volunteerparkconservatory.org/ the Conservatory offers various ways to help maintain the historic greenhouse and occasionally put on events to raise additional funds. This Sunday (August 12th) the Conservatory will be celebrating their 100 year anniversary, they are requesting that participants dress in Victorian wear. I will not be attending this because a) I dislike large crowds and b) it is suppose to be 80 degrees by mid-day. I will continue to add to the donation box each time I visit.
I will be showcasing the beauty of the plants and flowers contained within the greenhouse on my other blog, heather-anne.com. I will link them here as they are posted. Look out for them come Spring 2013.
