I’m not a fan of large crowds nor fireworks, so I stayed home for America’s Independence Day. The day after I joined a large number of volunteers to take part in the annual Starbucks sponsored clean-up. There are two locations for post-fireworks clean-up, Lake Union and Gasworks Park. Just like last year, I chose the destination closet to my apartment, Lake Union. My boyfriend joined me this year.

Being that this is a Starbucks sponsored event there was coffee, specialty drinks, and pastries readily available to volunteers. We were given gloves, a grabber , trash bag, and a recycling bag and off we went to walk around the park to pick up trash.

While I enjoy the perks of doing this (free coffee, oh! and the $5 gift-card) I like being part of the maintenance of the beautiful location, Lake Union.

(of course, play will happen when given a grabber)
