Northwest Folklife Festival [post-coverage]

A palate of bluegrass, old timey, indie and folk music, the Northwest Folk Festival offers a refreshing offering to mainstream music. I was only able to see a small sampling of the over 6,000 performers they had over the festival, but of the small sampling I was lucky enough to see, I only have positive things to say about it. It brought out a diverse, multi-generational crowd. I attended three out of the four days. At  The standouts for me were the street performers, from a mariachi band to a family playing bluegrass. Another favorite was the mass Waltz, featuring various versions of the waltz.  Your typical food options (seen here) lined the outer boundaries of the fairgrounds. I treated myself to delectable beignets topped with powder sugar. There is a strong emphasis in cultural traditions and practices at the Northwest Folklife Festival, a well put together event. If you are in the Seattle next Spring, do yourself a favor and attend.
