Holiday with my Family

I’m going on my second Thanksgiving separated from my family. Last year I had Thanksgiving feast with new friends here in Seattle. This year, I get to spend Thanksgiving with my boyfriend, we are making a meal for two. It is around this time of year that I reflect on memories of Thanksgiving past with family. My parents along with my siblings and I would literally travel over the river and through the woods to get to our relatives home in the town of Peach Bottom. My aunt and uncle’s house is located in rural southern Lancaster county, their backyard provided a beautiful view of open farmland. This site never got old. Thanksgiving dinner would be cooking as my family got there. The time before the meal gave us a chance to catch up on one another lives. No topic was off the table as we ate, not even politics. After the main course came desserts, and more alcohol  which then in turn prompted more conversation and laughter. The night ended with a film, usually the latest Pixar film.

All in all, I look back on these memories positively. While I am sure there will be times in the future where I will be reunite with my family, I look forward to new ventures in the holiday season.
