Recently I saw the Good Be Tanyas, they played a show at Seattle venue, Triple Door this past Friday, October 14th. Seated in the front row, I got a first hand look at pure talent that this band has. Band member Sam Parton was in a car accident over Labor Day, she is currently recovering. Listening to doctors orders, she isn’t traveling and missed this performance. Frazey Ford and Trish Klein continued on as they have in prior shows of the tour. In Sam’s absence Frazey’s mother filled her spot. The band put on a terrific performance despite the circumstances.
I was first introduced to the Good Be Tanyas when I there was a Noisetrade sampler ( this album is still available for download at http://noisetrade.com/thebegoodtanyas) I fell in love with their sound. Their music is a mixture of deep country, early American folk, old-time jazz, blues and gospel. It hearkens back to decades past, simpler times. Three band members, each of their voices are beautiful and in harmony, sound angelic. Along with vocals, their instruments; guitar, mandolin, and banjo make this band one of the best bands of the folk genre.

Huck Notari (http://www.hucknotari.net/) opened for the Good Be Tanyas for the Triple Door show. This band provided beautiful songs, the lyrics told tales of everyday struggles in this life. Similar music inspirations to the Good Be Tanyas, it provided the perfect introduction.
